Nueve Reinas (Nine Queens)
We fly over from Spain and Almodóvar to Argentina to show you a movie that has been classified as one of Argentina’s classic films.
This movie was Fabián Bielinsky’s debut as a filmmaker, starring one of Argentina’s most known actors in the past few decades: Ricardo Darín (The secret in their eyes). Bielinsky also wrote the script for the film.
The film develops in Buenos Aires (Argentina) where two mediocre con artists who meet at a convenience store, in what appears to be an accidental meeting, decide to cooperate in a major scam. They have less than 24 hours to do it.
The film's screenplay was adapted in the 2004 film Criminal (starring John C. Reilly, Diego Luna & Maggie Gyllenhaal).
