Acoustic guitar virtuoso, George Cole, and his incredible new group “Eurocana” are touring this summer and bringing their music, style, and outstanding musicianship to Café Istanbul (New Orleans Healing Center).  Their show is a glimpse into an alternate universe where melody, harmony and great showmanship reign supreme. Check out “Eurocana” online

“Eurocana”, is the name of the band AND describes a musical genre. It is a celebration of the great American Songbook with inspiration from the Gypsy fueled jazz of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli.

“Eurocana”:  The superlative George Cole on lead vocals and lead guitar, the classically-trained infinite superb talent of Echae Kang on violin, fearless French Gypsy guitar master Mathias Minquet Villarino, and the fresh, soulful voice of Kaeli Earle on vocals and acoustic bass.

George Cole:  Guitarist, Vocalist, and Composer. George Cole just wants to play his guitar and sing his songs for you. He pours his heart and soul and every part of himself into his music. He is a consummate performer, bringing vast experience and immeasurable talent to each show he plays and every project he is a part of.  George is an unforgettable entertainer, musician, songwriter and storyteller. He has toured with Joe Walsh, recorded with producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen and Paul McCartney), performed, played guitar and sang duets with jazz legend Keely Smith. He recorded on Chris Isaak's platinum selling Forever Blue Album. George was guitar instructor and mentor to Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day. Garnering rave reviews and standing ovations across the country, George has dazzled audiences at musical landmarks from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley.  Most recently George continues to tour extensively and presented the first annual (and extremely successful) L'esprit de Django et Stéphane Festival at The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley.  He’s now in pre-production for a new record and the summer of 2012 will find him touring the USA with Eurocana.

Mathias Minquet:  French/Argentinean guitarist Mathias Minquet is an exceedingly talented multi-instrumentalist who is a graduate of both The Sorbonne in Paris and Berklee College of Music. His varied musical experience includes performing with Enrique Iglesias, Laura Pausini, and the Pussycat Dolls. Mathias demonstrates a wide-ranging base of knowledge and skilled mastery of many styles. Mathias is a world-class, uniquely gifted talent. His guitar work will floor you and his breathy French vocals captivate and entrance.

Echae Kang:  Echae was hailed as the star violinist at Berkelee School of Music where she graduated with honors in May as well as at her alma mater the Seoul Jazz Academy. Echae is a master of classical violin and yet her love of jazz—gypsy and straight-ahead styles—drew her in a different direction. She's played with string virtuoso Mark O'Connor, legendary bassist Ron Carter, Grammy nominated vocalist Lalah Hathaway, and Academy Award nominated composer Alan Silvestri. Her skills with the violin are beyond measure and her musical potential knows no bounds.

Kaeli Earle: Kaeli is a rising star that hails from Bellingham Washington. Kaeli is a multi-instrumentalist who’s studied piano, cello, and acoustic bass. She adds her undeniable talent, skill, and energy to “Eurocana” as a vocalist and musician. Her vocals soar with a wingspan that embraces and astounds as she lays down groove after groove on her bass.
